In March, Europe House continued its mission as a hub for European values, celebrating the EU’s commitment to supporting the most vulnerable citizens while addressing the modern challenges of technology, gender equality and sustainable development across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

#EU4BiH

As part of the #EU4BiH activities, the focus was on humanitarian solidarity and civil society empowerment. Following the success of the 2025 Diplomatic Winter Bazar, which raised 310,000 BAM, Europe House hosted a ceremony to award grants to 28 organisations dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth. This initiative, supported by the EU in BiH, ensures that grassroots organisations have the necessary resources to provide education and developmental support to every child.

Within the horizontal campaign Apply!, we promoted the open call for the Green Skills Award 2026, an initiative by the European Training Foundation aimed at identifying projects that develop vocational skills necessary for a sustainable economy.

The #ClosEUp campaign continued to promote the cultural beauties of EU Member States by celebrating their national days, in March with presentation of traditional dishes from Ireland and Greece.

As part of the Europe House Talks series, Europe House organised a full day event focused on media professionals and journalism students Journalism and Technology: How AI is Changing Newsrooms. Featuring experts and workshops for students, the discussion emphasized the EU’s support for responsible innovation, ethical standards and the preservation of public trust in the media.

#EU4YourRights

International Women’s Day was marked with a series of activities organised as an intergenerational dialogue focused on the “invisible economy”, addressing the unequal distribution of unpaid household work and its impact on women’s economic security. Complementing this, the exhibition “Our Woman” was displayed, organised in cooperation with UN Women and the Historical Museum of BiH.

#OurPlanetOurFuture

Efforts under the #OurPlanetOurFuture flagship promoted the green transition through education and the What Does Green Mean? horizontal campaign. This initiative highlighted that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s forests are not merely a natural resource but a vital key to a healthy environment and clean water, urging citizens to take small steps toward their preservation.

Additionally, on the International Day of Action for Rivers, River Detective workshops were held in Banja Luka, Bijeljina, East Sarajevo, and Mostar, where students analysed water samples to learn about ecosystem protection and the journey of water from rivers to our homes.

Fostering green leadership among youth in partnership with the EU-funded CETAP project, the Trashformers II competition was launched, inviting primary and secondary school students to apply “4R” principles (Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle) within their communities.

#EU4Culture

#EU4Culture activities celebrated European diversity through literature and fine arts. The BOOKED book club hosted author Almin Kaplan to discuss his novel Mali otac alongside the works of Nobel laureate Jon Fosse, bridging local and European literary contexts.

In Sarajevo, the Dynamics of Joy exhibition by Bulgarian artist Bistra Zlatareva was opened in cooperation with the Embassy of Bulgaria, showcasing universal human emotions through art and strengthening cultural exchange between the two nations.

#EU4Youth

Under the #EU4Youth younger audiences were also engaged in Višegrad through the Children’s Book Club, which used European picture books to discuss values of empathy and friendship. Throughout the month, Europe House continued to host school visits and presentations for students from across the country, reinforcing the role of youth as the primary drivers of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European journey. We organised 3 school presentations and one open day event in Europe House in Sarajevo together with almost 200 pupils.
