#OurPlanetOurFuture

During April, our activities focused on launching the Trashformers competition in which we invited primary and secondary schools across Bosnia and Herzegovina to propose new, creative and innovative solutions for improving recycling, reuse and waste reduction in accordance with the basic principles of the circular economy. The competition is open until May 14, after which a public vote will be held when all interested parties can vote and support their favourite Trashformers!

We also launched a new format of interactive and practical workshops: Europe House Labs. The goal of these workshops is to learn new skills and gain practical knowledge in different sectors. The first workshop focused on sustainable fashion. Participants learned about the significant impact of the fashion industry on the environment and learned useful information about repurposing old clothes. It was a great opportunity to raise awareness about the impact of fashion and how important slow fashion is for our environment.

Earth Day is not just another day on our calendar – we marked this date with the release of our educational campaign Ecopedia, which highlighted the importance of preserving and using water and clearly presented the negative consequences of water pollution on our health and the planet.

#EU4BiH

Our commitment to cooperation with member states of the European Union continues to strengthen through the highly recognizable campaign #closEUp. This initiative vividly presents the sights and attractions of the member states as well as their uniqueness. Last month, we presented the Netherlands through their unique symbol – the tulip!

#EU4Youth

Europe House Info Points continued the implementation of interactive presentations for primary and secondary school students. Together with schoolchildren, we learn about the history and founding of the European Union, relations between the EU and BiH, and opportunities for young people. During April, 7 presentations were held together with 214 students.

#EuropeHouse

Since opening its doors to the public in October 2023, 331 events with more than 36,000 visitors have been held in the premises of Europe House.

In addition to our regular activities, the Europe House premises host events of projects supported by the European Union, initiatives organised by the embassies of EU member states in BiH and their cultural institutes, as well as activities of other organisations, institutions and projects to which the Europe House space in Sarajevo is provided free of charge. In April 2025, Europe House hosted 18 events with almost 2,000 visitors.
