During October, Europe House activities focused on promoting the Erasmus+ program, opportunities for young people, and environmental protection.

#EUzaMlade

Continuing #EUzaMlade activities, Europe House, in cooperation with the International Relations Office of the University of Sarajevo and the University of Tuzla, hosted students at an interactive presentation of one of the most successful EU programs – Erasmus+ – as part of the wider ErasmusDays campaign held worldwide to raise awareness of the opportunities offered by this initiative. The students in Sarajevo were joined by Ambassador Soreca, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative to BiH, as well as numerous Erasmus+ alumni who shared their unique experiences. As part of the activities in Sarajevo, an Erasmus alumni student – a graphic designer and photographer born in Sarajevo – presented his exhibition “Sur”, a multi-year cycle of street and documentary photography developed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain, and Portugal, which will be open until November 1, 2025.

Europe House Info Point teams continue their interactive school presentations for primary and secondary school students across the country with the start of the new school year. In October, presentations were held in schools in Derventa and Doboj with 160 students with the aim of educating students about the functioning of the European Union, its values, principles and important policies.

#EuropeForCulture

As part of the #EUforBiH activity, as well as #EuropeForCulture, in cooperation with the local and internationally recognised design brand Zanat Woodcarving, supported by the EU, Europe House co-organised a thematic event on the role of design in preserving cultural heritage. The event brought together world-renowned designers, architects and young creatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina to explore how design can protect heritage, empower communities and lead the transition to a more sustainable future.

#EUforBiH

As part of the #EUForBiH activity, with a focus on promoting available calls for funding for local organizations, institutions and individuals, we have published an edition of our horizontal campaign Apply! to promote the latest available call within the BiH-Montenegro cross-border cooperation programme.

#OurPlanetOurFuture

On the occasion of the International Day of Electronic Waste, as part of the #OurPlanetOurFuture activity, the exhibition “Clean Art” by Aldin Mustafija was opened. The exhibition highlights the growing pressure on ecosystems from discarded devices, digital pollution and resource depletion. The exhibition will remain open to the public until 10 November 2025. Alongside the exhibition, Europe House Labs: Unplugged – The Future of Electronic Waste offered a series of creative workshops in which students collected electronic waste and reinterpreted it as art. These workshops, which took place in Travnik and Kladanj, promoted recycling, repair and digital responsibility, empowering young people to take an active role in environmental protection.

On the occasion of World Cities Day, an edition of the horizontal campaign Ecopedia was published, highlighting EU policies for greening cities, as well as best practices currently used across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The ongoing #closEUp campaign continued to promote national holidays and cultural heritage of EU member states. In October, the campaign celebrated Cyprus through its ancient wells, Germany through its epochal invention of the printing press, Spain through its vibrant flamenco, Austria through its extraordinary waltz and the Czech Republic through its crystal production.
