During November, Europe House activities focused on highlighting opportunities for young people in science and media, promoting environmental awareness through the arts, and continuing cultural exploration of the European Union.

#EUzaBiH

Our #EUZaBiH activities presented opportunities for researchers and scientists to advance their careers through mobility and new skills, while putting women scientists in the spotlight. On November 7, the event “Women in Science – From Marie Skłodowska-Curie to Today” was held to honor Marie Skłodowska-Curie’s birthday and to pay tribute to the curiosity and perseverance that drive science. The event was attended by prominent women scientists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Adla Kahrić, Amra Hasečić, Irma Mahmuljin, and Hava Dedić, who shared their experiences in fields such as biology, engineering, biochemistry, and digital technologies. A key focus of the discussion was the support offered by EU programmes such as the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), which facilitate the development of young researchers through mobility and international cooperation.

As part of the Apply! activity, we launched a call for applications for Innovation, Media, Minds Mobility grants, offering up to €5,000 to media professionals from public service media in the Western Balkans to gain practical experience and network within the EU through job shadowing and training.

The online campaign #closEUp continued to promote national holidays and the cultural heritage of EU Member States. In November, the campaign celebrated Poland, focusing on pierogi as a cultural and historical symbol deeply embedded in Polish national identity, and Latvia, highlighting the country’s deep connection to Art Nouveau architecture, especially in Riga.

#EUzaMlade

Under the auspices of the #EUZaMlade initiative workshops for students were held in Gradačac, Kiseljak, Mostar and Travnik during European Robotics Week. Students learned how to build small robots from recycled materials, connecting coding and creativity with the principles of sustainability and digital responsibility.

#OurPlanetOurFuture

As part of our #OurPlanetOurFuture activities, Europe House hosted the first international edition of the photo exhibition “Guardians of Rivers“, which originated in Slovenia. The exhibition, jointly organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, the Guardians of Rivers initiative and the ACT Foundation, opened on 12 November in Sarajevo. The exhibition presented the work of prominent Slovenian photographers, each dedicated to a Slovenian river and its guardian, using art as a powerful tool to raise awareness of environmental issues, river conservation and sustainable development. The exhibition, which remained open until 3 December, highlighted the connection between environmental and social issues, promoting civic engagement and a common, unifying message across the region regarding the protection of natural waterways.
