In February, Europe House continued to serve as a hub for European values, celebrating the intersection of sports, culture, and civic engagement while promoting significant new funding opportunities for the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

#EU4BiH

As part of the #EU4BiH activities, the horizontal campaign Apply! took center stage, highlighting critical EU support for the country’s labor market and civil society. A significant public call was launched under the EUforFutureJobs project, offering grants to facilitate access to the labor market with a focus on the green and digital economy. Within the same campaign, and specifically targeting the #EU4YourRights flagship, a substantial €5.7 million public call was announced. This initiative aims to strengthen media freedom, the rule of law, and participatory democracy, representing a major portion of a larger €6.9 million package dedicated to protecting human rights and democratic values in BiH.

 

Furthermore, as part of the MyEUStory horizontal campaign, we continued the #WaterIsLife series to showcase the tangible impact of EU assistance on citizens’ lives. This month’s success story featured a major water supply project in Banja Luka. Supported by a €4 million EU grant and EBRD loans, the project provided stable access to drinking water for over 17,000 new users. The story of local farmer Dragan Bošnjak illustrated how this infrastructure investment transcends technical improvement, fundamentally enhancing daily life and agricultural productivity for entire communities.

#EuropeForCulture

The #EuropeForCulture flagship was marked by a unique fusion of cinema and sports. In cooperation with Sarajevo Olympic Week, Europe House hosted “Olympic Cinema,” a series of free screenings of inspiring sports films such as Cool Runnings and The Boys in the Boat. These events, which included discussions with Olympic athletes like Mirza Nikolajev, celebrated the Olympic spirit of perseverance and teamwork. Additionally, the “Booked” book club hosted author Adisa Bašić to discuss her work in a European literary context, fostering a culture of dialogue and critical thinking.

 

#EU4Youth

Under the #EU4Youth campaign efforts were centred on economic empowerment and social innovation. Europe House hosted a Europe House Talks event dedicated to strengthening social entrepreneurship. The discussion brought together young people, CSOs, and the business community to align local initiatives with the EU’s Social Economy Action Plan, focusing on creating sustainable, inclusive solutions for the next generation of leaders in BiH. 

 

In addition Europe House and its regional Info Points continued to organise school presentations and Europe House visits for school children and students from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina. In February we oganised 3 school presentations and hosted two Open Days in Europe House with over 155 pupils.  This activity will continue throughout the year.  

#EuropeHouse

Since its opening in October 2023 Europe House has hosted 491 events with over 51,077 visitors.  Alongside our regular activities, Europe House hosts events organised by European Union funded projects, initiatives led by EU Member State embassies in Bosnia and Herzegovina and their cultural institutes, as well as activities by other organisations, institutions, and projects. The Europe House Sarajevo space is provided free of charge for these purposes. In February 2026, Europe House hosted 7 events with more than 300 visitors.
