On the occasion of March 8, International Women’s Day, another edition of Europe House Talks was held on the topic of women’s equality in modern society and the role of the European Union in strengthening equality. Together with the representatives of the Young European Ambassadors and inspiring young women, the discussion addressed the permanent challenges to the perceptions of high school students, who actively participated in the exchange of experiences.
Layla Jusko, BiH Young European Ambassador and climate activist, who represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the international conference on environmental protection COP28, and Mia Avdagić, a young producer and project coordinator of Sarajevo Film Festival’s talent programme, shared their experiences and advice on positive practices and the roles of young women in society.
The European Union is committed to ensuring and supporting gender equality and women’s equality in all spheres of society, both throughout Europe and the world. Young women around the world are an example of positive practices of continued investment in the development of potential and capacity, as evidenced by numerous examples of women’s success through support for scholarships, career advancement and establishment of companies.
As one of the most important interlocutors, examples and partners of Europe House activities, high school students, as future young ambassadors of Bosnia and Herzegovina, presented the challenges of new generations as regards gender equality and emphasized the importance of actively listening to their dilemmas as well as the solutions they have to offer. After Sarajevo, talks will be held in secondary schools in Banja Luka, Mostar and Tuzla.
Europe House Talks is a series of events held throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina organized by Europe House, a long-term communication project of the EU in BiH, and numerous partners in order to offer new answers to already open topics through open dialogue, together with experienced and inspiring speakers, and encourage talking about topics that don’t get enough space in public discourse.
