In December, Europe House shifted its focus towards human rights and gender equality, the digital evolution of the creative sector, and an expanded outreach programme for students across the country.

#EU4YourRights

Addressing human rights and gender-based violence within the #EU4YourRights campaign, Europe House partnered with the Mentis Institute and students from the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Arts to mark the “16 Days of Activism.” The exhibition “This is not ok for us, and you?”, which opened on 9 December, utilised graphic design to explore the impact of digital violence on mental health. This was complemented by a series of workshops in schools across BiH, where students analysed how language violence is often normalised online and developed messages to encourage safer, more responsible digital communities.

#EU4Culture

Under the #EU4Culture umbrella, the fifth edition of the Sarajevo Creative Meet (SaMeet), titled “ITER ARTIUM,” explored the digital transformation of creative industries. The event opened on 5 December with a performance by the Montenegrin Youth Orchestra, followed by two days of discussions at Europe House. These sessions brought together experts in music, design, and journalism to discuss how authenticity survives in the rapid flow of digital information.

#EU4Youth

The #EU4Youth activities saw the Europe House Info Point teams visit 15 schools across Bosnia and Herzegovina, while two schools visited the Europe House premises in Sarajevo. Students participated in interactive presentations regarding the values and functioning of the European Union. Those who visited the capital also enjoyed a guided tour of the historic Baščaršija district and a traditional Bosnian ćevapi lunch.

#OurPlanetOurFuture

Focusing on environmental awareness under the #OurPlanetOurFuture campaign, the international photography exhibition “River Guardians” concluded its stay in Europe House on 3 December. Co-organised with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, the initiative successfully used art to highlight the importance of river conservation and civic engagement in protecting natural resources.

#EUzaBiH

Continuing with the #EUzaBiH campaign, Europe House supported the Diplomatic Winter Bazaar by providing items for auction from prominent local figures and brands, including Amel Tuka, Articoolisan, Aida Redžepagić, Almina Zrne, and Zanat. The proceeds from these donations provided significant support for social and educational initiatives across the country.

The ongoing #closEUp campaign continued its promotion of EU Member States by celebrating the national days of Romania and Finland. The focus on Romania highlighted its historic castles, such as the Gothic Bran Castle and the Neo-Renaissance Peleš, as fundamental pillars of the country’s historical narrative. The campaign also celebrated Finland by highlighting the cultural significance of the sauna. Inscribed on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage, the sauna remains a vital part of Finnish identity, serving as a space for equality and reflection for millions of citizens.
