#Litvanija celebrates its national holiday today! Congratulations 🎉 🇱🇹🤝🇪🇺
Amber is often referred to as “Lithuanian gold,” and is of enormous importance to the country. It consists of fossilized resin from ancient pine trees that existed around 44 million years ago. Used in jewellery and amulets since ancient times, it is often associated with the goddess Jūratė, who, according to legend, lived in an amber palace under the Baltic Sea. Amber remains widely used in contemporary jewelry and art pieces, with Lithuanian artisans known for their particular skill and intricacy.
