The students at the University of Zenica had the opportunity to find out more about the EU programmes for youth during the presentation organised by the EU Info Centre at the University’s premises on 21 March 2016.
Bosnia and Herzegovina signed an Agreement establishing its participation in Erasmus +: the new European Union’s umbrella programme for education, training, youth and sport (2014-2020) on 19 June 2014.
‘’The two semesters I’ve spent in Berlin within the Erasmus exchange programme are a priceless experience. Besides the opportunity to attend lectures of great professors I’ve also made friendships with students from all around the world, and you can’t put price on that,’’ said Samir Beharić, a Journalism student from Sarajevo and the former Erasmus exchange student during his presentation.
Amra Muslić Halilović, Inter-university and International Cooperation Coordinator at the University of Zenica called upon the students to use this opportunity as the University has already signed a number of partnerships with the EU universities.
‘’The International Cooperation Office is eagerly anticipating students’ applications as all our work is in vain without the interest of students’’, Muslić Halilović said.
More than 80 students also learned more about the possibilities within the European Voluntary Service as 25 organisation from Bosnia and Herzegovina are accredited for sending and receiving volunteers.
On this occasion EU info centre also presented the awards to the winners of the literacy competition “My Travel through Europe” Armen Tatarević from Zenica won the first prize, Vladimir Ruf from Vareš took second place, and Ivana Papac from Stolac was third.
Winner of the competition Armen Tatarević shared some interesting and useful tips for cheap traveling through Europe that enabled him to visit many EU countries described in his winning work.
Erasmus+ is the EU programme for education, training, youth and sport started on 1 January 2014 and replaced the current funding programmes run by the European Commission in the areas of education, training, youth and sport, including the Lifelong Learning Programme (Erasmus, Comenius, Leonardo, Grundtvig and Transversal), Youth in Action and other international programmes such as Jean Monnet and Erasmus Mundus. The Erasmus+ Programme runs from 2014-2020 and supports activities in education, training, youth and sport across all lifelong learning sectors including higher education, further education, adult education, schools and youth activities.
